We’ve not received help from anyone –Father of blind 13-year-old fuji singer

Do you remember Basit, the 13 years old singer who caught the attention of Pasuma some weeks ago after singing like him?

The boy’s father, Taiwo Raheem, has revealed that they were yet to get any help from the public for the boy.

Raheem told Sunday Scoop, “I thank everyone for the love they have shown towards my son. We have not received any help, though people have been visiting. Pasuma has promised to help us. He told us that Basit will be performing with him on stage, but nothing has happened yet. I’m so happy for my son because he loves Pasuma and knows all his songs. When we visited Pasuma, he was happy to meet Basit too.”

According to the bricklayer father, Basit was not born blind and was once a schoolboy.

He said, “I have six children and Basit is the second. He was not born blind. He hadn’t even started walking as a kid when the trouble started. We took him to different places for help but there was no solution. When I took him to a place known as Oke Agbara (Mountain of Power) in Ibadan, they told us that there was nothing we could do but to show him endless love and support. They said that he would be great and he would also regain his sight someday.

“Basit was in a school before, but he told us he wanted to focus on music. He has been singing since he was eight years old. I would have loved to take him to a music school, but I don’t have the means. I don’t get jobs regularly and his mother’s business has collapsed also.”
