It’s been a really good year for Nigerian music.
Although the year started out slow – but judging from the look of things, it has turned out to be a great year for the Nigerian music industry.
With the likes of Runtown dropping ‘Mad Over You’ in December 2016 and topping the charts up till March – and Davido giving us ‘IF’ as the year’s start out banger.
Perhaps a few more jams might hit corners before December 31, but before the, below are our Top 15 Songs of the 2017 (so far).
15. Reekado Banks – Ladies and Gentlemen
This has got to be the 2017’s first jam, with the video being released in January, Reekado got everyone grooving to Ladies and Gentlemen which is the first track off his debut album, ‘Spotlight’.
14. Kiss Daniel – Sofa
Who else loves the reggae vibe? This musical composition will give you an impression of a mix of Bob Marley and modern Hip Hop!
13. Mayorkun – Mama
With a total of 2.8m Youtube views, Mayourkun has proven to us that he is no one hit wonder with a string of hits this year. Mama breathes new life to the new Naija pop wave.

It`s one of the new Nigerian songs of 2017 that will keep you dancing all night long. Enjoy its rhythms!
11. Tiwa Savage – All Over
Tiwa Savage came back for her throne in Naija pop music and we were glad to give it to her. All Over is an infectious pop tune that does not try to do too much and we love that about it.
10. Niniola – Maradona
Following the success of her hit single ‘Maradona’, Nigeria’s queen of Afro-House Niniola recently her latest song, ‘Sicker’ – hopefully she dominates with that like she did with Maradona.
9. 9ice – Living Things
This song has met a lot of controversies since it’s release. It was even banned on national Television by NBC. There’s no denial ‘Living Things’ is however one of the biggest songs of 2017!

6. Small Doctor – Penalty
Whether you are on the streets or you in the club, there is no escaping Penalty. ‘Penalty’ won many of Small Doctor’s critics over because of the high energy that seemed to burst out of the song and of course, the catchphrase about kicking penalties into throw-ins.
5. Wande Coal – Iskaba
We need not say much on this, but this has got to be everyone’s favourite jam thus far.
4. Davido – Fall
One word for this Nigerian song – hot! Extremely hot! Even with his latest tune, ‘Pere’ not making a mark, Davido has got IF and Fall to make up for it.
3. Wizkid – Come Closer
Come Closer was such a hit Wizkid had to drop two music videos for it. His collaboration with Drake hit the spot and enjoyed its reign on various charts.
2. Ycee – Juice
There is no doubt that YCee and Maleek Berry gave us one of the catchiest choruses and Instagram captions of 2017. The fresh beat made the song an instant ear worm and one of the best party ready tracks of this year.
1. Davido – IF
At some point this year, you would have said ‘thirty billion for the account oh!’, whether or not it was true. ‘If’ reminded Nigerians why they are fans of OBO and even amidst all of Wizkid’s international attention, Davido’s decision to challenge the direction SONY wanted him to go looks like a smart one.
